The county of Queen Annes, in particular, led the state with around 55,500 acres of soybeans planted in 2021.


Corn is another important crop in Maryland, accounting for approximately 29% of the total acres planted in the state. In 2022, Maryland farmers planted a little under 400,000 acres of corn, providing a stable and consistent market for their products.


Wheat is another significant crop in Maryland, accounting for approximately 14% of the total acres planted in the state. Wheat is a versatile crop, with a wide range of uses including the production of flour, animal feed, and ethanol.


Hay is also an important crop in Maryland, accounting for approximately 10% of the total acres planted in the state. Hay is a critical component of the state's agriculture industry, providing feed for livestock and supporting numerous related industries.


Barley is another crop grown in Maryland, accounting for approximately 4% of the total acres planted in the state. Barley is a versatile crop, with a wide range of uses including the production of beer, animal feed, and cereal, among others.
